Scraps to Soil

About the Program

Through a grant from the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality, the Scraps to Soil Pilot Program is collecting food scraps from Lansing area restaurants, coffee shops and food processors and bringing them to a commercial composting facility to be processed into ‘Closed Loop Compost’. The goal of the pilot is to divert food scraps from the landfill and return them to the environment.
